Optional Competitions
LADDER TOURNAMENT
Sometimes called a "ringer" tournament, this is a tournament in which the best score posted on each hole by a player during multiple rounds is added up for one 18-hole score total for each player. An alternative way to look at this type of tournament is that it is an individual "best ball" tournament in which the best ball on each hole is selected from the players' multiple rounds throughout the season. The player with the lowest 18-hole score at the end of the season is the winner of the Ladder Tournament. Some team events may not be eligible to earn scores for the season long Ladder Tournament.
Players have the option to enter the below competitions on the day of tournaments and will pay the required entry fees at check-in along with any required green fees.
SKINS
Competition between players where each hole is competed for individually. A wager (called a "skin") is made on each hole. The skin is awarded to the player who wins the hole outright. If a hole is not won outright by any player in the field (i.e., two or more players tie for best score on the hole) that hole is said to be "halved" and no one wins the hole.
CLOSEST TO THE PIN
A competition specifically for par-three holes. Closest-to-the-pin is won by the golfer whose tee shot comes to rest closest to the hole. To win the competition, the ball must have stopped on the green. Any balls off the green are ignored, even if they are the closest.
All four par-three holes will generally payout. A proximity marker is used to keep track of the location of the shot which comes to rest closest to the hole.
DEUCE POT
Any player who makes a two on any hole, is a winner regardless if another player makes a two on the same hole. Every deuce a player makes earns an equal share of the Deuce Pot, divided amongst all the players who entered. This is a gross score; handicaps do not come into play.
